Weekend Report

The Loch is still fishing well with some good bags over the weekend. Saturdays weather was warm and sunny with a North Westerly wind, IBM A/C weighed in 45 fish for 139lb with A Shepherd weighing in 5 for 22lb 15oz and D Morrison having the heaviest fish at 10lb 7oz.
Methill A/C weighed in 15 for 31lb 12oz. Ardgowan Game Anglers weighed in 26 for 70lb 8oz and the Saturday Club from Edinburgh weighed in 41 for 118lb.
Sunday was a different story with a strong Westerly wind that picked up throughout the day and ended up as a gale. This only left a few sheltered spots to fish but this didn't stop some good catches.
CSSA Rosyth had 38 fish for 97lb 11oz with a 9lb 8oz and a 9lb 8 1/2oz. Ferry Fly Fishers landed 24 fish for 66lb 9oz with C Masson getting the heaviest bag of 5 for 19lb 4oz including an 11lb 4oz Rainbow.
Perth Civil Service weighed in 19 fish for 56lb 2oz with D Carr heaviest bag with 4 for 16lb 15oz.

Saints and Sinners

Today started off with a North Westerley wind it was a cold, grey and showery morning. It looked like only the hardiest, experienced fisherman would go out today and some did, like Chic Keay and Bill Hynd they managed to land a 10 pounder and a 7lb 3oz fish. With there bag of 10 fish weighing in at a scale busting 41lb 9oz, which is the best bag of the season so far.
Also on the Loch today were Billy and Charlotte More Nisbett, Henry Fletcher and Alistair Horgrath. they had been gifted a days fishing and lunch by Billy's Dad who had bought the voucher at the Saints and Sinners Charity Auction. Stevie Gill was again enlisted to pass on his wise words of advice to our newest fishing recruits. After a couple of hours with Stevie, two boats set of with high expectations, Personally I thought one or two between them would have been good going! You could imagine our surprise when Charlotte and Billy roll into the Harbour shouting '' Get the scales out Baby!'' Charlotte had landed a stunning 10lb 2oz rainbow on her first ever outing.

St Serf's Ladies Vs Kinross Flytiers

Today we had a friendly competition between St Serf's ladies and Kinross Flytiers. Even on a wet and cold day they had some good fishing with the Gents winning with 33 fish for 88lb 13oz and the Ladies close behind with 28 for 70lb 14oz. Heaviest fish was Ann Borland with a personal best of 11lb 8oz and boat partner Robin Eadie with a fine fish of 8lb 10 oz. Another big fish was landed by Jim Hooper with a 9lb 15oz fish netted by Sheila Mannion.

First fish for Karel

On Thursday we had Karel Leyssius and his Father, who are on holiday from Holland out with our instructor Stevie Gill. Karel was keen to learn to flyfish and also to catch a trout or two while here in Scotland, and as you can see in the picture we ended up with a very happy boy!

Fishery Update

The changeable weather has made for challenging conditions this week on the loch with cormorants and crunchers being a good choice, on the days the sun has put in a appearance there have been some good hatches of buzzers and some good rises of fish.
Some of the club returns this week are Sharp Gentles A/C 51 fish for 108lb, Kingfisher 20 A/C 37 fish for for 77lb 2oz, Stewarton A/C 41 fish for 104lb 12oz and Dunfermline Railway A/C 7 for 18lb 4oz
