The New Season

Hello everyone, not long till the new season starts now!

We are busy getting everything ready and making sure that we are ready to go for you all.

Pike fishing starts on the 3rd till the 9th of March Then its full swing with the Trout season starting on the 10th.

Opening day for Trout fishing is already fully book! So it looks like everybody is eager to get going, check your diaries and give us a call to make future booking and ensure that you don’t miss out.

Our Café Bistro will be serving up plenty of bacon rolls and hot tea & coffee to get you started in the morning and should you have cause to celebrate why not relax and taking in the view while sipping a cold one.

Don’t forget that our Café Bistro is open to all so if fishing is not your thing and you just want a coffee, cake or a meal with good people, all are welcome.

Latest Butterstone Loch Report

The week commencing from Friday 16th September to Sunday 25th, our catch was a total of 779 with the numbers returned at 82.

PRI Scanner Appeal held thier competition on Friday 16th September raising over £1000 here at Butterstone Loch. The team had a great day with 102 catch with the total weight 198lb 7oz.

Men's Champion's as follows,

First Place: Paul Hastiewith, 6 fish for 17lb 7oz.

Second Palce: Mr William Johnston, 5 fish for 13ib 10 oz.

Third Place :Mr Jack Hamilton, 5 fish for 13lb 5oz.

Woman's Champions as follows,

First Palce: Mrs Valarie Parkin, 4 fish for 8lb 4oz.

Second Palce: Mrs Sheila Mannion, 3 fish for 5lb

Third Place: Jean McEwan, 3 fish for 4lb 4oz.

The last comeptition was held on Thursday 22 September, with the Sponsering from Lamb & Gardiner, Coupar Angus. A massive thank you to Colin Nicholson and his team we had a total 14 Teams, landing 83 fishfor 204lb.

Winners of the competition were, Mr Edge and Mr Morton first to reach Twelve for 28lb 10oz, they recieved £150, Trophy and a Free Boat. Second was Mr Lamb & Mr Quigley 12 fish for 26lb6oz, they recieved £100 and a Free Boat. Third was Mr Steele & Mr Mulligan, they recieved a Free Boat.

Last Competition of the Season

Last week was yet again another succesful one on Butterstone Loch, with an overall total of 510 fish caught.

Saturday was one of the best Saturday's indeed, with 186 fish being caught, giving an average of 7.4 fish per boat and a staggering 3.7 fish per man.

The best Flies at the moment are Kahts Whiskers, Green and White Nomads or even Mr Quigley's Green and White F**k Ups as they so fondly named them. Also small size 14 Snatchers, Crunchers and Black Spiders.

Our most productive spot for so many of our catches this week on Butterstone is drifing across the middle of the Loch.

Now gent's it's competion time again and sadly to say the last one of the season. We are hosting on the 22nd September 2 man teams, £80 entry fee per team which includes Breakfast and Lunch, and also well deserved Coffee's at the end of the comp. So to all you competivite anglers that thouroughly enjoy a great days fishing here is what we are aiming for

Winner £300 and free Boat

2nd Place £150 and free Boat

3rd Place £75 and free Boat

Mr Cameron landed a good 6lb 13oz Rainbow on a Small Bobby.

Competition

Our competition at Butterstone Loch was a complete success, with a grand total of 160 fish for 393Ib covering 25 boats taking part.

It was very close beetween 1st & 5th with 2lb 1oz sepperating the top 5 Teams.

1st with 12 fish at 29lb 6oz, Mr Steel and Mr Mulligan.

2nd with 12 fish at 29lb 4oz, Mr Lamb and Mr Quigley.

3rd with 12 fish at 28lb 13oz, Mr Mackie and Mr Mcafferty.

4th with 12 fish at 28lb 12oz, Mr & Mrs Mannion.

5th with 12 fish at 27lb 5oz, Mr Smith and Mr Calderwood.

From August 20th to August 28th we have a total of 737 fish being caught. Best fish would be Mr Anderson, Browny at 7lb 4 oz.

We had a couple of guests from Portland, Oregan. Mr Matt Eicher & Mr Bruce Ross, both beginners. Matt landed a 2lb 8oz Blue Trout but his Father-in-law, Bruce, Missing the best chances of a catch. Not to worry both had a great day on the Loch with their guide and Manager of Butterstone Loch, George Donaldson.

Fishing well again!

Looks like our Summer has been and gone and the number of fish being caught is giving good averages again.

Weekend dated 06/08/11 we had a 113 catch for 21 boats.

Weekend dated 07/08/11 we had a 118 catch for 22 boats.

Weekdays dated 08/08/11 to 12/08/11 we had a 223 catch.

Weekend dated 13/08/11 we had a 153 catch for 24 boats.

Weekend dated 18/08/11 we had a 104 catch for 24 boats.

Best flys this week are Drys Comorants and Back Spiders

Mr Penman was on holiday for a week at Butterstone Loch when on his last day he caught a 8lb Brown Trout, with a blue and black Soilder Palma,

We had a visit from Priory A/C who were fishing there club doubles which was won by man and wife team Mr & Mrs Clark, landing 12 fish for 25lb 3oz. Second was J Bennell and M Richie having ago with 11 fish for 24lb.

There will be no bookings or walk-in on Wednesday 24th August due to a compition being held at the loch.
